How to convert Premiere Project to FCPXML
Final Cut Pro can't open a .prproj, or the XML that Premiere Pro exports. To move a Premiere Pro edit to Final Cut Pro, convert the .prproj to FCPXML here. CutConvert reads the project in your browser without Premiere Pro and writes FCPXML 1.10, which Final Cut Pro imports with File → Import → XML. Each sequence becomes a Final Cut project with its clips, transitions, titles, keyframes and nests, and each media file gets one reference so Final Cut relinks the footage. Nothing is uploaded.
Add your .prproj file
Drag the Premiere Pro project onto the drop zone. Your browser reads its sequences, tracks, clips, source ranges and media paths locally.
Convert
Press Convert. The preview shows the first lines of the FCPXML, and the Kept/Changed line says what survives. Clips, names, timing, markers and media paths carry over. Dissolves and crossfades are written, and a dip or wipe becomes a cross dissolve. Effects are listed by name and not converted.
Download your result
Download the converted file, or one ZIP when you convert a batch.
Import in Final Cut Pro
Choose File → Import → XML and pick the .fcpxml. Each sequence arrives as a project in an event named after the file. Relink the media if Final Cut asks, check the transitions, then rebuild effects.
Premiere project and FCPXML (Final Cut Pro), explained
Final Cut Pro does not read FCP7 XML, the format Premiere Pro exports and the XML converter on this site writes. Premiere Pro does not write FCPXML. This converter reads the .prproj directly and writes FCPXML 1.10. It also reads the Final Cut Pro XML that Premiere exports (File → Export → Final Cut Pro XML), so that file converts here too. The report lists effects other than motion, opacity and crop as left out. Each clip becomes a connected clip on a lane above or below one storyline gap that spans the sequence. Video track 1 is lane 1, video track 2 is lane 2, audio track 1 is lane -1, and so on. The Final Cut layout matches the Premiere Pro track layout. Video lanes carry only picture and audio lanes only sound, so nothing doubles. Final Cut requires timing on the frame grid of the sequence rate (23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60), and the converter writes it that way. The sequence start timecode is kept. The .prproj does not store frame size, so the timeline is written as 1920×1080 with a warning. Change it in the project settings if the edit is another size.
Each sequence in the .prproj becomes a Final Cut Pro project with its tracks, transitions, markers, keyframes, speed, nests and bins. It is free to start, encrypted in transit, and converts a whole batch into one ZIP — sign in when you need large, high-volume jobs.
Premiere Project to FCPXML FAQ
Does it need Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro installed?
Neither. The .prproj is read and the FCPXML written in your browser. You need Final Cut Pro only to open the result.
Can Final Cut Pro open the XML Premiere exports?
No. Premiere's File → Export → Final Cut Pro XML writes FCP7 XML (xmeml), which Final Cut Pro X and later do not read. FCPXML is Final Cut Pro's own format; this page writes version 1.10, which current Final Cut Pro imports. If you already exported that XML from Premiere, drop it here and it converts to FCPXML too.
What does Final Cut show after import?
An event named after the file, with one project per sequence. Inside is a storyline gap the length of the edit. Each source track gets one connected storyline above or below it (V1 on lane 1, A1 on lane -1, and so on), which gives transitions between clips a place to live. It is not a magnetic primary storyline. Select the clips and use Create Storyline if you want one.
What is not carried?
Lumetri colour, filters and most other effects. The conversion report names each one. Scale, position, rotation and opacity carry, static and keyframed, and so do crops and flips. Titles become Final Cut Basic Titles with their text, font, size and colour. Dissolves stay dissolves, a wipe becomes a Final Cut wipe and a dip to black a Fade To Color. Bins become keyword collections. Clips whose media had no file path in the project become placeholder gaps of the same length with a note, so the timing stays intact.
Will the media relink?
Each media file is written once as an asset with a file URL to the path stored in the .prproj. If the footage sits at that path on the Mac that imports the XML, Final Cut links it directly. Otherwise use File → Relink Files and point at the folder.
Which frame rates and sizes are supported?
All standard rates: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 and 60, written as exact rationals on the frame grid. Each sequence keeps its own frame size from the project, 4K and vertical included, and each media file keeps its own rate and size. Only a sequence with no stored size is written as 1920×1080, and the report says so.
Is the project uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser. The site records only the file name and size for metering.

Questions, answered
Where are my files processed?
In your browser. The file never leaves your computer, and CutConvert only records that a conversion happened. We never see, store, sell or share your media.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Files up to about an hour of footage convert free on every converter. CapCut projects are free up to 500 KB. Guests get five conversions a month; a free account has no monthly cap within the free size caps. Bigger files are $3 each, or $5 for a project conversion from one program to another. Pro is $9 a month ($90 a year) for files up to 50 MB. Studio is $19 a month ($190 a year) for files up to 500 MB.
What do I get when I convert multiple files?
One ZIP with every converted file. A single file comes back on its own. Press + to add more output formats: they go in the same ZIP, and each file still counts as one conversion.
Which formats are supported?
Projects in: Premiere .prproj, DaVinci Resolve .drp, Avid AAF and bins, Final Cut FCPXML, CapCut drafts and Audition sessions. Projects out: FCP7 XML, FCPXML, Resolve .drp, AAF, CapCut and REAPER, plus CMX 3600 EDL and shot-list CSV. Transitions, markers, titles, keyframes, levels, speed changes and nested sequences carry over wherever the target app can hold them. Captions: SRT, WebVTT, SBV, ASS, TTML, DFXP, iTT, SCC, MCC, EBU-STL, Avid caption TXT, timed CSV, Word and plain text. Transcripts: Whisper, WhisperX, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai and CapCut JSON, Premiere transcript JSON and .prtranscript, and Rev, Otter and Word-style text. Styling, placement and speakers come along where the output supports them.
Can I pick a frame rate?
Yes. For EDL and Avid caption output, choose 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 or 30 fps, or let CutConvert detect it from your source.
