How to convert JSON to Premiere JSON

Convert AI transcript JSON into the transcript JSON Adobe Premiere Pro imports for text-based editing. CutConvert reads OpenAI Whisper (verbose_json with word_timestamps), WhisperX, whisper.cpp, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai, AWS Transcribe and Google Speech-to-Text output. It writes a Premiere static transcript whose words keep the timestamps the transcription engine measured. Premiere's text-based editing then cuts on the real word boundaries.

  1. Add your JSON file

Drag in the transcript JSON. The converter detects the dialect. It uses word timestamps when the file has them and interpolates from the segment timing when it does not.

  2. Convert to Premiere JSON

Press Convert. Segments become Premiere transcript segments with speakers and word-level timing.

  3. Download your result

Download the converted file, or one ZIP when you convert a batch.

Transcript JSON and Premiere transcript JSON, explained

Premiere Pro's own transcription is good, but it is not always the engine you want. A project may already have a Whisper large-v3 transcript, an AssemblyAI diarized transcript, or a corrected one from a service. Premiere reads a specific JSON layout with a segment list, speakers and a word array per segment. This converter writes that layout from any dialect the JSON to SRT converter reads. Where the source has word timestamps, it keeps the measured times instead of spreading each segment's duration evenly across its words. The result imports through the Text panel like any Premiere transcript.

Bring Whisper and other AI transcripts into Premiere Pro text-based editing with the word timing the engine measured. It is free to start, encrypted in transit, and converts a whole batch into one ZIP — sign in when you need large, high-volume jobs.

JSON to Premiere JSON FAQ

Which JSON formats are supported?

OpenAI Whisper verbose_json (with or without word_timestamps), WhisperX, whisper.cpp, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai, AWS Transcribe, Google Speech-to-Text, YouTube caption JSON, Podcast Namespace transcripts and generic {start, end, text} arrays.

Are the word timestamps real?

When the source has them, yes. Every word keeps the start and duration the engine measured. A plain Whisper verbose_json without word_timestamps has segment times only. The words are then spaced evenly inside each segment, and the fidelity line under the preview says so.

How do I import the result into Premiere?

Open the Text panel, choose Import transcript from the panel menu, and pick the JSON. Premiere attaches it to the selected sequence or clip.

Do speaker names come through?

Yes. Speakers from diarized transcripts become Premiere speakers, and the cue text is not prefixed with their names.

Questions, answered

Where are my files processed?

In your browser. The file never leaves your computer, and CutConvert only records that a conversion happened. We never see, store, sell or share your media.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Files up to about an hour of footage convert free on every converter. CapCut projects are free up to 500 KB. Guests get five conversions a month; a free account has no monthly cap within the free size caps. Bigger files are $3 each, or $5 for a project conversion from one program to another. Pro is $9 a month ($90 a year) for files up to 50 MB. Studio is $19 a month ($190 a year) for files up to 500 MB.

What do I get when I convert multiple files?

One ZIP with every converted file. A single file comes back on its own. Press + to add more output formats: they go in the same ZIP, and each file still counts as one conversion.

Which formats are supported?

Projects in: Premiere .prproj, DaVinci Resolve .drp, Avid AAF and bins, Final Cut FCPXML, CapCut drafts and Audition sessions. Projects out: FCP7 XML, FCPXML, Resolve .drp, AAF, CapCut and REAPER, plus CMX 3600 EDL and shot-list CSV. Transitions, markers, titles, keyframes, levels, speed changes and nested sequences carry over wherever the target app can hold them. Captions: SRT, WebVTT, SBV, ASS, TTML, DFXP, iTT, SCC, MCC, EBU-STL, Avid caption TXT, timed CSV, Word and plain text. Transcripts: Whisper, WhisperX, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai and CapCut JSON, Premiere transcript JSON and .prtranscript, and Rev, Otter and Word-style text. Styling, placement and speakers come along where the output supports them.

Can I pick a frame rate?

Yes. For EDL and Avid caption output, choose 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 or 30 fps, or let CutConvert detect it from your source.
