How to convert DaVinci Resolve Project to EDL
Convert a DaVinci Resolve project to EDL online. CutConvert reads the .drp without Resolve and writes a CMX 3600 EDL per timeline, with numbered events, source and record timecode, clip names and a reel list. Use it to bring a Resolve cut into Avid, Premiere, Flame or another colour session.
Add your .drp file
Drag the DaVinci Resolve project export (File > Export Project) onto the drop zone. Your browser unpacks the archive locally.
Convert
Press Convert. Your browser reads the sequences, tracks, clips, source ranges and media references. The preview shows the first rows before you download anything.

Resolve project and CMX 3600 EDL, explained
Resolve exports EDLs one timeline at a time from inside the application. This converter writes them all from the project export, with V1, A1 and A2 per timeline and one event per clip. Record timecode counts from the timeline start (01:00:00:00 by default). Source timecode counts from the media start. A comment block at the end of the file maps reel names back to the full media names.
One CMX 3600 EDL per timeline in the .drp, with V1, A1 and A2 and source and record timecode. It is free to start, encrypted in transit, and converts a whole batch into one ZIP — sign in when you need large, high-volume jobs.
DaVinci Resolve Project to EDL FAQ
Which Resolve versions are supported?
We have verified project exports from Resolve 17 through 19. Subtitle tracks are left out. Timelines at a different frame rate from the first are skipped with a warning.
Which tracks end up in the EDL?
A CMX 3600 EDL carries one video track and two audio tracks. Each sequence becomes an EDL with V1, A1 and A2. If a sequence has more video tracks, V2 and above go into separate EDLs. Audio beyond A2 is left out, and a warning says so.
Why are all events cuts?
The converter reads clip positions and source ranges, not transitions. A dissolve becomes a hard cut at the clip boundary. That usually suits a conform. For a finishing session, apply the transitions in the destination.
What are the reel names?
Eight-character upper-case names taken from each media file name and made unique per EDL, as the CMX format requires. A comment block at the end of the EDL maps every reel name back to the full media file name. Each event also carries FROM CLIP NAME and SOURCE FILE comments, so Resolve and Avid can relink by name.
Drop-frame or non-drop-frame?
Non-drop-frame, at the sequence timebase, and the header says so (FCM: NON-DROP FRAME). A 29.97 or 59.94 sequence still converts. If your NLE asks on import, choose non-drop.
Which timecode does the source side use?
Source in and out count from the start of the media file, because that is what the project stores. Record in and out are the timeline positions, including the sequence start timecode, such as Resolve's 01:00:00:00.
Is the project uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the project and writes the EDL. Nothing leaves your machine.

Questions, answered
Where are my files processed?
In your browser. The file never leaves your computer, and CutConvert only records that a conversion happened. We never see, store, sell or share your media.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Files up to about an hour of footage convert free on every converter. CapCut projects are free up to 500 KB. Guests get five conversions a month; a free account has no monthly cap within the free size caps. Bigger files are $3 each, or $5 for a project conversion from one program to another. Pro is $9 a month ($90 a year) for files up to 50 MB. Studio is $19 a month ($190 a year) for files up to 500 MB.
What do I get when I convert multiple files?
One ZIP with every converted file. A single file comes back on its own. Press + to add more output formats: they go in the same ZIP, and each file still counts as one conversion.
Which formats are supported?
Projects in: Premiere .prproj, DaVinci Resolve .drp, Avid AAF and bins, Final Cut FCPXML, CapCut drafts and Audition sessions. Projects out: FCP7 XML, FCPXML, Resolve .drp, AAF, CapCut and REAPER, plus CMX 3600 EDL and shot-list CSV. Transitions, markers, titles, keyframes, levels, speed changes and nested sequences carry over wherever the target app can hold them. Captions: SRT, WebVTT, SBV, ASS, TTML, DFXP, iTT, SCC, MCC, EBU-STL, Avid caption TXT, timed CSV, Word and plain text. Transcripts: Whisper, WhisperX, AssemblyAI, Deepgram, Rev.ai and CapCut JSON, Premiere transcript JSON and .prtranscript, and Rev, Otter and Word-style text. Styling, placement and speakers come along where the output supports them.
Can I pick a frame rate?
Yes. For EDL and Avid caption output, choose 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 or 30 fps, or let CutConvert detect it from your source.
